Day 1: Arrival and First Taste of Fan Life

Check in, drop your bags, and make your way to the ICE District. Even if it’s not game day, this downtown hub is full of Oilers spirit. Snap a photo at the Wayne Gretzky statue outside Rogers Place. Explore Fan Park for murals, live music, or food trucks, and visit the Oilers Team Store inside Ford Hall to grab official gear and souvenirs.

If there’s a game tonight, you’re in the right place.

If you have tickets, start your evening at The Canadian Icehouse, just across from the arena. It offers a jumbotron, rooftop patio, and immersive pre-game energy with fans in full Oilers gear. Enjoy a bite, a drink, and the buzz before heading into Rogers Place through Ford Hall to watch the Oilers light the lamp in one of the NHL’s top arenas.

If you don’t have tickets, make a reservation at Studio 99, located inside Rogers Place and open to non-ticket holders on select nights. It is lined with Gretzky memorabilia, packed with big screens, and offers a menu that blends sports bar comfort with gourmet flair. It is one of the best ways to experience a game from the inside, even if you are not in the seats.

After the final buzzer, wrap up the night with drinks at Central Social Hall or The Pint on Whyte. Both stay open late and are filled with fans and locals celebrating every big goal or breaking down plays over wings and beers.

Day 2: Game Day or Deep Dive

Start the day with brunch at OEB Breakfast Co. or Toast Culture. Both spots offer hearty breakfasts with plenty of coffee and fan energy to get your morning rolling.

If the Oilers are playing today, center your day around the game. Pick up merch or memorabilia at United Sport & Cycle. This Edmonton institution has been outfitting players and fans for generations and is the perfect place to add to your collection.

Head back downtown for lunch at The Canadian Icehouse. Even if you were there last night, it is worth a second visit on game day. The crowd, the food, and the energy only get better closer to puck drop. If you do not have game tickets, this is also one of the best places to watch the game in the city.

If today is not a game day, dive deep into Oilers history with a self-guided fan tour. Snap a photo at Gretzky Drive, check out the Oilers mural on 104 Street, and swing by the site of the old Coliseum to pay tribute to past glory. End your route back at the ICE District and browse the fan store again to see what you missed.

In the afternoon, explore Edmonton’s river valley. If it is winter, skate at Victoria Park Oval or Churchill Square. In the summer, rent a bike and cruise the trails. These are the same places Oilers players train off-season, and it is the perfect way to blend your visit with the local lifestyle.

Dinner takes you to Whyte Avenue. Grab a booth at Julio’s Barrio for iconic nachos or head to The Next Act for a burger and a pint. Both are laid-back, local, and always full of fan spirit. After dinner, head upstairs at Black Dog Freehouse for music, conversation, and one last round before calling it a night.

Day 3: One More Lap Around Oil Country

On your final morning, treat yourself at Duchess Bake Shop. It is one of Canada’s top bakeries and a fitting last stop before you leave. Whether it is a croissant for the road or a box of macarons for home, you will leave with something sweet.

Do some last-minute shopping at Hockey Life in West Edmonton or return to the ICE District Team Store. If you want something unique, check out Edmonton Stickers online or at local retailers for custom Oilers-inspired designs.

If time allows, stop in at the Royal Alberta Museum or visit the Muttart Conservatory. The city has plenty more to offer beyond the rink, and a few quiet hours before departure gives your trip a satisfying finish.

Getting to Rogers Place

Driving? Pre-book parking online or through your hotel. Transit is a great option with MacEwan LRT Station located next to Rogers Place. Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are also reliable and convenient, with designated drop-off and pickup zones along 104 Avenue.

Game Day Tips

  • Arrive at least 90 minutes before puck drop to catch the pre-game buzz
  • Upper bowl seats bring big energy with a great full-ice view
  • Club Level offers premium lounges and upgraded menus
  • No ticket? Head to The Canadian Icehouse or watch parties in Fan Park
  • Always wear your team colors and be ready for goal songs and chants
