Winter Adventure Tips for Skiers and Snowboarders

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned skier, these tips will help you enjoy Edmonton’s slopes to the fullest:

  • Dress in Layers: The weather can shift throughout the day, so dress in layers to stay comfortable and dry. Don’t forget moisture-wicking base layers and insulated gloves.
  • Protect Your Skin: Snow can reflect UV rays intensely, even on cloudy days. Wear sunscreen and sunglasses or goggles with UV protection to prevent sunburn and glare.
  • Stay Hydrated and Fueled: Bring water and pack snacks to stay energized on the slopes. Many resorts have on-site cafes or lodges, perfect for a mid-ski break.
  • Know the Rules: Familiarize yourself with each resort’s guidelines and safety tips. Follow the marked trails and respect other skiers and snowboarders for a safe experience.
  • Check the Weather: Alberta’s winter conditions can be unpredictable. Check the weather and snow reports before heading out, and follow any advisories for optimal conditions.

Edmonton’s skiing and snowboarding options offer something for every level, from local slopes to thrilling mountain trails. Make this winter one to remember by hitting the slopes at these top spots in and around Edmonton! Whether you’re in the mood for a quick run or a full weekend adventure, Edmonton’s winter wonderland awaits.
